    Medical & Welfare

We are practiced in administering medication on behalf of owners during the cat’s stay and accommodate the cats needs as much as possible.

If medication needs to be administered, this will be undertaken on condition that the cat accepts the medication without resistance, and that it can be managed by one of our members of staff.

We charge a £4.00 daily supplement if we are required to administer medication that is time critical. For example, if we are boarding a diabetic cat who must have its insulin injected daily at 12-hour intervals. Pury End does not charge for medications that are just ‘pop into food’ or can be carried out at standard feed times.

If a guest becomes ill whilst staying with us, we have access to 24-hour veterinary services with Towcester Veterinary Centre, just a short distance a way.

Please notify us of any ongoing treatments / known medical conditions when you arrive. All cats will be examined on arrival, and we reserve the right to refuse admission to Pury End should any guests show signs of ill health.

Please ensure you cat is up to date with treatment for both fleas and worms. Should any guest require treatment during their stay, the full cost of the treatment will be charged to the owner.

    Vaccinations

To ensure our guests remain healthy and comfortable during their stay with us, we will ask you to bring physical evidence of vaccination certificates for cat flu, feline herpes virus, feline calicivirus and feline enteritis upon your arrival. Vaccinations should be boosted annually, and this should be administered at least seven days before the cat is to be boarded. Apologies, but we cannot accept your cat without evidence of these certificates.

    Elderly or ailing cats

If your cat is elderly or suffering from ill-health, we will discuss in advance the appropriate welfare needs for your cat. If your cat is elderly or of poor health, we will sensitively discuss end of life wishes and requirements.

    Good to Know

Book as early as you can

If you need to cancel your booking for any reason, this must be done within 28 days prior to your booking, otherwise payment in full will be due. If you are planning to go abroad, we recommend that you ring us first to check availability so you can "pencil” in a booking. You can finalise the dates as soon as you have your flight details confirmed.

    Transporting your cat

Do not walk or carry your cat in your arms to the cattery. Until it is inside the cattery, the responsibility for its safety is entirely yours. Make sure you have a sturdy cat carrier that is solid enough to prevent the cat from escaping. Line the cat carrier with a puppy pad in case of any accidents. Please bring cat blankets separately in a bag. We advise not to feed your cat before travelling so as not to upset their stomach.

    On arrival at the cattery

On arrival at the cattery (with your cat), always check that information on diet, medical history or current medication has been clearly written down on your booking form. You are required to bring along your cat's vaccination card and all cat's must be micro-tagged. Check your emergency contact's name and number is correct and re-affirm the time & date of your collection. Should you be delayed on pick-up day, please contact the cattery as soon as possible.

    For peace of mind

For your peace of mind, we can send photo/video updates on your cat’s holiday via WhatsApp whilst you are away. This is especially useful when owners are away or abroad for extended stays. There is no extra charge for this, it is a service we are happy to provide for our clients. If you prefer not to receive updates, please make us aware on drop-off day.
